My Two Year Old

I have a two year old! He's been a toddler for well over a year now as he mastered walking very early on. I cannot express how much I love this little boy of mine.

He is currently weighing in at 31.6lbs and is 34 inches tall.

He is a momma and daddy's boy through and through. But of the two of us momma is best! Which is fine with me except maybe in the middle of the night when I want to roll over and sleep and he refuses to let me. But how can you resist the cuteness that is my little Benjamin!

Benjamin loves cars! He thinks cars to play with, look at, climb in or watch is the coolest thing ever! When we go to my Boppa's house to work on the garden we will put him in the car to play and keep him penned up and he loves every minute of it. He actually gets mad on the days we don't let him play in the car.

Climbing! Oh my goodness Benjamin is a climber. I've said it before but his goal in life is to get to the highest point he can and potentially jump off of it. While this terrifies other people who see him climb things we don't mind much. Every once in awhile he does make a nervous but we try to keep a close eye on him while letting him explore. Last week Jared picked Benjamin up from the nursery at church and they said "He's quite the climber huh?" And Jared said "Yes." They then said "and very resourceful!" Apparently Benjamin had been moving different toys around the room to climb onto or into things.

Sweets! It's amazing to me how quickly Benjamin recognizes packages that will contain something sweet. I will bring treats home from work and even if it's something new based on the packaging he assumes it's a nice tasty treat. He also loves Chocolate milk. I can't make it through the door if I have chocolate milk in my hand. He must have it and will hyperventilate until he gets it. So he's mommy's son. His daddy doesn't have quiet the sweet tooth.

Benjamin still enjoys to spin and sometimes he will spin with his eyes closed which is funny. He loves to relax between our legs. He absolutely loves to watch Phineas and Ferb. There's several episodes like Meepless in Seattle that are his favorites. I love to watch it just to watch him and listen to him laugh.

Tickling! Benjamin is like his daddy and can decide to not be ticklish. So not fair! But when he wants to be tickled watch out. He will grab your hands and make the motions for you to tickle him and he does get pretty wild.

He still doesn't talk much but that doesn't mean he can't communicate. He will get your attention and let you know what he wants you just have to follow him and pay attention.

As I mentioned before Benjamin loves his parents and is not crazy about the idea of being away from us. At church he goes to the nursery and when we get to church now and sit down after a few minutes he starts to panic. It used to be that it only happened when the closing prayer was done that he would grab my neck tight and start crying. Now it happens before church and after almost every amen that is said. Amen at home is an okay word but at church it means time for nursery in his mind. While it's funny to some degree I do feel bad. He has a great time while in nursery but the idea of being separated is very hard on him.

Swings! There is a park in Monroe that has this awesome saucer swing. Benjamin loves to swing on it with his mommy! I love swinging too so it's great! Being outside is also a favorite of Benjamin's. Along with throwing rocks down the back drains.

Benjamin basically refuses to sleep in his crib anymore these days. So we are going to be moving him up to a big boy bed because he will sleep fine on a regular bed. We think he doesn't like to be trapped and unable to come to us if he wakes up and this way we can go cuddle him back to sleep in his own bed.

We love Benjamin so much and are so grateful to be his parents. We enjoy every minute we have with him and feel so blessed. I cannot believe it's been two years already. It does fly by quickly but I am doing my best to enjoy each moment, make great memories and love him with all my heart (which is really easy to do).

An Impromtu Birthday Party

Monday the 28th of May was Memorial Day! Whoo hoo! A day off of work! First I am grateful for all who have served and are currently serving our country. I am grateful for the freedom's that I am so blessed with by living in this country.

We went to visit my Dad in the morning who we hadn't seen in months. He really enjoyed seeing us! He told me I looked just like my mom when she was younger. Afterwards we went to Jared's parents house to help out with laying down the bark they got in for their flower beds we had weeded and planted a few weeks prior. Jared, his dad and Brian also brought their RC cars. Benjamin had me play with one of them for awhile and was mad when the battery died but I couldn't let go of the controller.

Afterwards we had dinner and an impromptu birthday party for Benjamin. His grandma sure knows how to spoil us. I got to have hamburgers, chips, raspberry lemonade, chocolate covered oreo's, cake and ice cream!

Benjamin wasn't able to blow the candles out and either was I. Grandma leaned over and accomplished it!
I cannot believe my little boy is 2 years old now.

Indulging a Sweet Tooth

On Sunday the 27th of May I had my sweet tooth hit me pretty strong yet again! I had nothing in the house that had chocolate that I could make. I decided to make a cake from scratch. I made my famous yellow cake and then some cream cheese frosting! It was getting pretty late by the time the cake had cooled enough to frost but I still wanted to have a slice of cake. I went to grab my camera to take a picture when I turned around and found this...

My sweet little boy indulging himself to mommy's cake.

It was delicious!

A Little Family Vacation

I coached Track and Field again this year. I will you what there were days I thought I was crazy for doing so being pregnant and dealing with teenagers again. I didn't care much for teenagers when I was one and here I was putting myself in their path. Thankfully some of the kids made it worthwhile. One of my throwers made it to State in the discus. I was so proud of her (Madison Stillwell) as it was her senior year and she deserved to make it with all of her hard work.

My family went with me down to the Tacoma area. It was a nice little vacation! On the day that Madi was throwing we had some time to just hang out so we found a place to chill and let Benjamin play. He lined up cars, ran along the high school and cuddled with his Mommy!

Someone's Hungry

Who doesn't love pancakes? They are a great Saturday morning treat! I don't make them every Saturday but when we have time I do and Benjamin loves it. On Saturday May 19th I made pancakes and set the table up. Benjamin climb straight up to the table and made it known he was ready to go.

Never Too Old

While nearing the end of my pregnancy I am having a hard time getting comfortable and working. When downstairs Benjamin likes to jump all over me and run upstairs. I decided to work upstairs but I couldn't keep my laptop on my lap very well. So I decided to start using the spare bedroom with a desk in it as my new office space. Benjamin loved it as he is not allowed in the room very often. I had to clean it up a little bit but it didn't take much.

I had the extra monitor set-up and when Benjamin was a little restless I was able to play Mickey Mouse Club House for him and keep working.

On May 18th he decided climbing into the bassinet would be so much fun. I had to grab the camera. This isn't the first time he's crawled into it but he just laid and played in it for so long I had to capture it again.

Later that day I went downstairs to get bags out of the closet to pack for going to State for Track & Field at the end of the week. Benjamin followed me and climbed right in and started playing with the old bouncy chair. It's funny to me how much he loves to play with his old toys. I can tell when Elizabeth gets here he will be playing with her toys and items more than her most likely.

A Day at Home

On Wednesday's I work from home. On May 16th I kept the camera nearby to capture a few moments with Benjamin throughout the day.

Benjamin loves to lay between our legs for some reason. If your on the bed he will climb between them and if you are laying on the floor on your stomach he will still climb between your legs. Though yesterday Jared was laying on the floor reading on his stomach but his feet were going into the window sill. So Benjamin climbed the back of Jared's legs and into the window. It was pretty funny.

Bath time! If Benjamin doesn't get his bath before Jared leaves for school then it's pretty unlikely that Benjamin will get a bath at all.

And of course the day cannot be complete without some cars being lined up around the house. Typically Benjamin lines them up right next to each other but the other day Daddy showed him how you could line them up right behind each other.
Probably a week ago or so we were hanging out downstairs and Jared went upstairs to get something...maybe a diaper...when he came back downstairs he tells me, "Our house is infested!" I started to feel a little uneasy and asked, "With what?" "CARS!!!" He said he went upstairs and rounded the corner and hit a lineup of cars and they all scattered like things do when you come upon mice or cockroaches quickly. Thankfully it was just a description and not a real infestation.
