Family Baby Shower 04/24/10

I am a very blessed person. I got to have a family baby shower also. My fabulous cousin Theresa threw me a shower at her house. She went to town like I knew she would. She decorated, cleaned (which I don't understand what because she is a clean fanatic), baked and made me my all time favorite punch!!!! She also made me this amazing diaper cake!!! I'm afraid to take it a part. It's on a dresser in the Nursery for now...I will take it a part when it comes time to use the diapers.

A lot of my family was there (some were not due to an injury in the family recently) and friends old and new. It was a great time. Even my little sister made time to run over for the weekend at the last minute.

I got a lot of great stuff...the funniest item that I spent a lot of time on was Butt Paste. It's the actual brand name. Talk about funny!

I also got spoiled by my Aunt Cindy. She made it possible for my Mommy to attend.

Below are a few shots from the shower.

Whirlwind

Hang onto your hats everyone! It's a whirlwind blog catch up! Work has gotten out of control and this last week was crazy busy! So I got a little behind and instead of working on YW's tonight I decided heck I will blog! Anywhoo....I hope you enjoy! And here is a side profile of me at 34 weeks.

Great Weather...Cold Feet!

Today was a wonderful day! I woke up this morning and got going a little slowly but I could hear the birds chirping with the windows closed. When I was ready to go downstairs and get ready for my meetings I opened the door so I could have fresh air and hear the birds. It was just a gorgeous drive to church!

Since it was such a gorgeous day we decided to hang out at the park. We hung out with Jacki and Terence, Felicia, Nate and we invited the Shearins too. Heather Lyons wasn't able to make it because traffic was a bear. It took Felicia 35 minutes to get there.

We had a ton of food! And just hung out eating, watching the kids play (and fight) and Terence and Felicia play ball. Okay Jared and Nate played some too but not a lot.
(I love this picture of Kiah!)
After eating multiple times we walked down to the river and played. Hmm...water...ice cold...what should we do? Oh yeah lets soak our feet!

And then to top it off Terence fell for yet another sucker bet! He gets 30 dollars all together for going waist deep for 3 minutes. CRAZY!!!
Jared's feet still hurt from just hanging out in the water for a few minutes.

Ward Baby Shower!

I had my Ward Baby Shower Friday night! It was wonderful! I was a little nervous at first because I'm like wow this is for me. How weird?! I've been to so many baby showers and finally it's one for me...hmm....what do I do...it took me about 5 minutes to figure out what to do with myself and get comfortable. Once my friend Heather showed up and I started visiting with her I felt more like myself.

Thank you so much to Jacki for throwing this shower for me. Also a special thanks to Heather Lively for doing the games, Heather Lyons for the invitations, and Aimee for opening her home. And can I say again her husband is an amazing baker! He made delicious cheese cake! I had two pieces!!!

I was so spoiled! I really just love hanging out with my friends from my ward. I am truly blessed.

Sneak Peek!

Alright I will give you a little sneak peek of our nursery! We are almost done! We are finally done painting! Hurray! I just need to clean out the closet, hang the wall paper trim (Winnie the Pooh), vacuum again, borrow and use the carpet cleaner in there, and start moving the crib and stuff in. Whoo hoo! Getting down to the wire!

Spring Break!

Last week was Spring Break! Olga was a busy girl. She went to Mt. Rainier, Oregon, California and back in 3-4 days. And then she went to Idaho with us for 3-4 days. It was a busy week. Some not so fun things happened to her but overall she had a good time and got to experience a lot of cool things.

Jared and I decided to get a hotel and let Olga stay at my mom's place. Which turned out to be a good thing. Less people to entertain in the evening and she didn't have to set up an extra bed. So the hotel we stayed at was nice and only about 15 minutes away. We checked in and were going up to our room and I was noticing all these little pictures next to the room numbers. We find out room and guess what the picture is of?!!? Bet you can't guess?

A tractor! What are the odds of that?

Anyways we tired to do a few different things with Olga. We took her to the Kuna Caves and she, Rudy and Jared climbed down the precarious hole and crawled around. As they were all just about down I turned to look at my mom who was sitting in the car and saw a small twister (large dirt devil) come barreling down on me. I turned around pulled my camera in tight, closed my eyes tightly and held my breath. It pelted me pretty good on my legs with some dirt. It was so bizarre to me.

(something is wrong with this...it's flipping my pictures to the side even though I have them set up totally different)

We got to spend some time with my adorable nephew Blake and niece Jillian. It was nice to see them. My goodness how fast they grow. I need either Granny or their mom to start posting me pictures or something. I was dumbfounded how big they were but it had been either a year or over a year since I last saw them in person. Jared is such an amazing uncle (I know he is going to be an amazing Dad too). He helped build a decent size train track for Blake to play with. And then at the end of the night started chasing and running away from Jillian. She thought it was so much fun.

One of the last things we did is let Olga drive our car. My mom explained to me where to go to drive that would be safe for us to be illegal. We started driving and I was like oh yeah I know where to go. I told Jared from the back seat where to go and let me tell you it brought back memories. Where we went is right below where I would go off-roading and mudding in my truck (okay it was really Ed's but on loan...I cleaned the underside from time to time).
We did accomplish our main goal of our trip which was to finish Olga's quilt! Amazingly enough I have no pictures of it. Hmm I will need to rectify that soon. I also enjoyed my time with my mom. She learned how to crochet onto a burp cloth and taught me how to do it. I did one on the way home and need to keep going and get them done.

Happy Easter Sunday!

We celebrated Easter a little bit yesterday since Olga was leaving last night to go have fun for a few days with her friends. Jared kindly reminded me of this by asking "Are you going to give Olga her Easter basket this morning?" I was like No...wait oh duh! So I got up and quickly assembled it and put it outside her door.

She really enjoyed it. Especially the part about red M&M's. Red is her favorite color. She is with red like I am with purple. Everything must be the favorite color!

Jared and I had a good time hanging out watching General Conference Saturday. During the sessions we worked on cleaning up the house some. I tore the kitchen/dining room apart to sweep, mop and scrub it down royally. We decided when putting things back together to shrink the table and move things around a bit. Our dinning room seems a lot bigger now.

This morning for Easter breakfast I made french toast with Texas Toast. It was really good. When I was cracking the eggs, they fell in this pattern that looked like a face with a smirk.
Afterwards we watch the Sunday morning session of Gen Con. We've already had our Easter Dinner. It was delicious! I won the battle for a spiral cut ham! I love ham!!!!! It's so nummy!!! So now we are enjoying the afternoon session of Gen Con and then we will just snack on our leftovers for the rest of the day.
It has been a truly wonderful and peaceful weekend. I'm grateful for the time we've spent together getting things done and be fed spiritually. There are so many wonderful things being shared this conference just like any other.

I wish you all a Happy Easter. I'm grateful to know my Savior lives and that he atoned for my sins and loved me that much.

Happy April Fool's Day! / Happy Birthday Megan

So yesterday, I got online and saw something about April Fool's. So I went out to http://www.123greetings.com/ and sent my sister 2 birthday cards and an April Fool's card to a few people. My brain honestly thought it was April 1st.
Shortly after I sent everything I realized I was a day early. My sister got online and I said Happy Almost Birthday. I didn't tell her I screwed up earlier. For all I knew she hadn't gotten the cards yet.
My poor sister...being born on April Fool's was tough on her growing up. We would give her horrible presents. She got boxes of rocks, boxes of dirt with a coupon shredded and other things. One year I stole some of her stuff to give back to her and then forgot about it and found it weeks later and was like oh here you go. We would tease her about being dropped off by the gypsies and stuff like that. We were mean. But if your birthday lands on a day of teasing it doesn't help.
Anyways Megan is awesome! She is almost done with her schooling to become a teacher and I am very proud of her. She has grown up so much and yet when she sleeps I still see my little red headed, fun loving, smiling little sister at age 5.
Favorite memories of Megan!
  • Putting on our ballet outfits and dancing together.
  • Decorating the Christmas tree for mom and with mom.
  • Pouring over the Christmas ad's and making our wish lists.
  • Making nests out of blankets and pillows.
  • Driving to Meridian together when Mom was out of town thinking we were so cool!
  • Driving down the road in my Chevy van which had missing seats and so we put in camping chairs and I hit the gas really hard and she flew backwards right behind me and then later I stomped on the breaks and she ran into my seat. It was hilarious!
  • Hiding under tables with scissors to cut each others hair.
  • Trying to stay up all night to see Santa.
  • While moving to Idaho we shared a bed at the hotel one night and I flipped ends of the bed and she kicked her foot into my mouth. I woke up screaming "Fungus Toe! Fungus Toe!"
  • The night before I got married we slept on my living room floor together and she flung her arm over in her sleep and it landed on my throat. I woke up screaming "She's trying to kill me!"

Happy Birthday Megan! I hope it's a great one! And congrats on the apartment!
